Drive Hours Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 14, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Tiny Dev Studio LLC ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects information in connection with Drive Hours, our iOS app for tracking a teen driver's supervised driving hours.
Information we collect
- Account information — When you sign in with Google or Sign in with Apple, we receive your name and email address (or, if you choose Hide My Email with Sign in with Apple, a private relay address) to create and identify your account.
- Drive logs— Records of supervised drives you record or log afterwards: date, start and end time, duration, conditions (day or night), the supervising adult's name, and any notes you add.
- GPS route data— With your permission, Drive Hours records the route of a drive while you are recording it, including when the screen is locked or you switch apps, to show the route and speed on the drive summary. Location is used only while a drive is being recorded. Location permission is optional: you can decline it and still log hours. You can turn it off at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Drive Hours.
- Driver details— The driver's name and state, a learner's permit number if you enter one for a state form, and a goal date if you set one.
- Sharing information— If you share a driver, the name you give each invite (for example, "Grandma") and the name and email of each person who joins.
- Subscription information — If you subscribe to Drive Hours Pro, Apple processes the payment; we never receive your payment details. We receive your subscription status from our subscription provider, Superwall, so the app can unlock Pro features.
- Usage analytics— We collect product analytics via PostHog: an account identifier, which screens are viewed, and events such as "drive started" with coarse details (for example, a drive's duration and day/night conditions). Analytics never include your name, email address, GPS routes, or notes.
- Crash and diagnostic data — If the app crashes or hits an error, we receive a report via Sentry with device type, OS version, app version, and technical details of the error. Crash reports do not include your name, email, GPS routes, or notes.
How we use your information
- Provide the app: record, store, and sync drive logs and routes across your devices
- Let you share a driver with the people you invite
- Unlock Drive Hours Pro features for subscribed accounts
- Fill in state forms you choose to export
- Improve the app and fix problems, using analytics and crash reports
- Respond to support requests
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your data, including GPS routes, for advertising or to build advertising profiles. Drive Hours does not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
Who can see your data
- People you share a driver with.A driver's owner can invite specific people with a single-use invite that expires after 7 days and can be cancelled before it's used. Everyone with access to a driver can see that driver's drives, including GPS routes and notes, and the names and email addresses of the other people with access. Adults can also log drives; a teen has read-only access. The owner can remove anyone's access at any time, and it takes effect immediately.
- Challenges.If you link your driver with another driver for an hours comparison, only the driver's name and total hours are visible to them. Never individual drives, notes, or GPS routes.
- Our service providers (listed below), only to provide their service to us.
Storage and security
Data is stored in Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore) in the United States and is sent over encrypted connections (TLS). Security rules on our database limit each driver's data to the people who have been given access to it. Some data is also kept on your device so the app works without a connection.
Retention and deletion
We keep your account and drive logs for as long as your account exists. You can delete your account at any time in the app (Settings → Delete Account). Deleting your account:
- deletes your account and profile;
- deletes every driver you own, with all of its drives, GPS routes, and notes, for everyone it was shared with;
- removes you from drivers that other people own, including your name and email from their list of who has access;
- clears Drive Hours data stored on your device and resets analytics on it;
- if you signed in with Apple, revokes Drive Hours' access to your Apple ID.
Drives you supervised for a driver that someone else owns stay in that driver's log, including your name as the supervisor, because they are part of that family's record of practice hours. Deleted data may remain in our encrypted database backups for up to 14 days before it is permanently removed. Analytics and crash data are kept by PostHog and Sentry under their retention policies.
Third-party services
Drive Hours uses these services, each governed by its own privacy policy:
- Google Firebase (Google LLC) — sign-in and cloud database
- Google Sign-In (Google LLC) and Sign in with Apple (Apple Inc.) — sign-in
- Superwall — subscription management for Drive Hours Pro
- PostHog — product analytics (no names, emails, routes, or notes)
- Sentry — crash and error reporting
- Apple App Store — distribution and purchases
Teens and children
Drive Hours is for parents, adult supervisors, and teen drivers working toward a license. A teen may join a driver with their own Google or Apple sign-in through an invite from the driver's owner, with read-only access. Drive Hours is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Your rights
You can access and correct your information in the app, and delete your account and data as described above. You can also email us to request a copy, a correction, or deletion of your personal information, and we will respond within 30 days. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under local law; contact us to exercise them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
